FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers
1. How do I get my order to you?

Either submit your order on our website, or print an Order Form and send it in with your images or original childrens artwork. See the "How It Works" page for more information.

2. Is there a minimum/maximum amount of pages per book?

For the BEST possible photo book, we recommend a minimum of 20 pages, but your book comes with 40 pages, so you may as well use them! The maximum pages for one photo book is 400.

3. Can I order additional copies of my book at a later date?

Yes, but the price will increase slightly. You always get the BEST value when you order all the duplicates at the same time. We keep all photo books on file for a year should you, family or friends wish to purchase additional copies. So, think about all the gifts you may need for the entire year and consider making those purchases now to get the very best price on your photo books.

4. Can I design my own cover?

The dust jacket consists of one image, the book title (The Picasso Kid), and the artist's name. You choose the image you would like printed on the cover. In additon, you choose an image for the back flap and compose a personal message.

5. What is the turn around time for a book?

From the moment we receive your order, we will begin making your photo book and let you know when it has been completed. We will email you to let you know when it is shipped. Each photo book is a masterpiece to us, so we take the time to do it right and give every shipment a tracking number. You can track your order (link at top of home page) on our website once it has been shipped (online orders only).

Turnaround time varies during the year. Our average turn-around time is 3-4 weeks from the time we receive your order to the time it is in your hands.

6. What constitutes a page?

When we refer to pages we are referring to sides. For example, page 1 is the right sided page that starts the book, page 2 (left side of the book) would be the flip side of page 1.

7. How do I organize and submit my captions?

Give all your images a number and use the corresponding numbers for the capitons. Please type your captions on a separate page and submit with your order.

8. Can I specify the order of artwork for my book?

Yes, if you know exactly how you want your photo book to look. If not, let our BEST designers create a visually stunning book for you and your loved ones! (That’s what they're here for, after all!)

9. Why do we need to agree to an artwork release?

Your child owns the copyright to his/her original artwork, however, we own the copyright to your published photo book. Giving us permission to use the artwork to create a photo book protects everyone. We are asking your permission to have non-exclusive, royalty free use of their images.

10. How do I submit my images?

There are two ways:

   1. Take your own digital photos or scans of your child’s artwork following our image specifications for the best possible quality and a). email them to info@thepicassokid.com using the FTP server at http://www.yousendit.com/ or b). upload them to a web based photo account such as Flickr and provide us, via email, with your account login information for retrieval or c). mail in a CD/DVD containing your digital images.

   2. Mail us actual photos of your child's artwork. We will digitize them for you (extra cost).

12. What image size is acceptable?

Please view our image specifications by clicking the link.

13. What resolution do my photos have to be?

Please see image specifications by clicking the link.

If you are scanning your childrens art and saving them to a disk, please scan them in at 300 dpi. We can accept images down to 150 dpi. Know that at the lower resolution, your printed pictures may not look as great as you'd like.

14. What file types do you accept?

We will accept JPG (jpeg) and PNG files that are formatted for RBG color.

15. Can I use photos taken by a professional photographer?

Photos taken by photographers are subject to copyright law. To use professional photos in your photo book you must have permission from the photographer or have purchased the negatives.

16. Can I email my files to you?

Yes. Since you will have many files to send, please use the service at YouSendIt.com to email them to us. To use this service, save all of your named files to a named folder, zip it (with an application like Winzip or Stuffit), upload it and address the email to info@thepicassokid.com. Each transmission can only accept up to 100 mb, so you may need to send several transmissions. We will get a notification that you have sent the files and will contact you as soon as we have received them.

17. Can I send in my original artwork?

Yes. Flat pieces are preferred. We don’t encourage sending us 3D art for the simple reason that it may break in transit, which would be very unfortunate. The itmes should not be larger than 18" x 24".

18. What is the safest way to send you my irreplaceable materials?

Carefully place the items into a sturdy box mail to us. See the "How It Works" page for more tips.

To be on the safe side we suggest sending your order in with a tracking number. The U.S post office offers this service for a small fee as do all express shipping companies. Your materials and books are always sent back to you with a tracking number.

19. Will my artwork be returned to me?

You have two options. Although one aim of TPK is to help reduce the clutter in your home, we realize that there are a few masterpieces that you might like to keep. Just let us know which pieces you would like returned to you. Alternately, we would be happy to recycle all of your original artwork for you, thus eliminating the clutter (at least until the end of the next school year)!

20. Can I ship directly to someone else?

Yes, just fill in their shipping address on the order form and your address in the billing information section. Keep in mind that your entire order will go to the "ship to" address.

21. Can I pay extra for express shipping?

Yes, for shipping prices and options, please click here.
